Student Support Assistant at Sjuntorpskolan

We are proud of Trollhättan's city with over 5,000 employees who make a positive difference in our residents' lives every day and contribute to the city's sustainability and vitality. We are driven and motivated by the guiding principles of Courage, Participation, Innovation, and Action. Here, there is an exciting development where you can help make our city even better.

About the Organization

Sjuntorpskolan is a rural F–9 school with approximately 500 students, where proximity to nature is a natural part of the students' learning environment.

In grades F–3, there are just over 180 students. The after-school program consists of four departments, two of which cater to students in preschool and grade 1.

We work purposefully with development areas that strengthen learning, equity, and safety. One of our current focus areas is to increase the quality of the after-school program, aiming to create even better conditions for children's development and learning during the important leisure time.

With us, the student is always in focus, both in terms of knowledge development and social development. The whole school is a collaborative team where we take responsibility for everyone to succeed – both students and staff. Through cooperation, shared responsibility, and a solution-focused approach, we build a school where we grow together.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who has the ability to see students' different needs, considers their individual circumstances, and enjoys challenges. You want to be involved in helping students grow and develop. You have experience working with clear pedagogical methods and low-arousal responses. In your role as a student support assistant, you are a good role model for our students, and it is important that you can create good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You are professional in your approach and have a great curiosity, humility, and patience to find ways forward so that the student can succeed as often as possible. At our school, we work in teams, so the idea is that you will have close colleagues to evaluate and analyze methods in working with the student.

Qualifications

For this position, we see that you have either a secondary education, such as the Child and Leisure Program, training as a student assistant, support pedagogue, or leisure leader. It is advantageous if you have knowledge of different functional variations and an understanding of how functional ability and environment interact, i.e., what functional variations can mean for a person in relation to the environment. You also need to be familiar with how the environment needs to be adapted to minimize difficulties and enhance functional ability.

An important parameter is that you have knowledge of low-arousal responses and clear pedagogical methods in both theory and practice. We see that you have a sense of duty where the goal is always for each student to reach as far as possible in their learning. Experience working in schools is advantageous, and you should be able to provide good references from previous work with children/students that demonstrate your ability to apply your knowledge in practice. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You will work in a team and have good support from other educators. Part of your role will be in the after-school programs.

Interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period.
